May 14-22, 2010 For the North Shore Design Show, benefiting the Wenham Museum, interior designer Patricia Finn of Finn-Martens Design furnished an exciting space she called "A Game Room for Eleonora Sears", which commemorated the backgammon game Eleo played to win her seaside estate in Prides Crossing. October 28, 2009 - Syracuse, New York The 126th National Horse Show opened at the Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament, where the 'Eleonora R. Sears' Memorial Challenge Trophy, donated by Madame Marie V. Gendron, was awarded to the overall winner in the hunter classes. Seven classes were won by Francesa, an 8-year-old Dutch warmblood mare, owned by Pony Lane Farm and ridden by Maggie Jayne. June 1-2, 2007 - Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts The annual US Tennis Association women's sectional grass court competiton for the Sears Cup, donated by Eleonora Sears in 1927, was won by the New England team. Other particpants in the tournament were teams from the Eastern, Mid-Atlantic, and Middle States. August 25, 2007 Bariloche, Argentina was the site of the world's first female snow polo tournament - the Eleonora Sears Challenge. The event was organized by Claudia Hodari of Argentina as a tribute to the first woman to play competitive polo on a men's team. |
